Chinese Calligraphy 

Learning the basic brush strokes and structure of Chinese Characters in different Calligraphy styles, namely, Lei Su (隸書), KaiSu (楷書), XinSu (行書), CaoSu (草書), and JuanSu (篆书). The Class Study is also supported by lectures on general knowledge and techniques of Chinese Calligraphy. The MOTM Chinese Calligraphy Group will organize the annual HuiChun Give Away event, usually one or two weeks before the Chinese New Year, and also a biennial Class Work Exhibition. Both events are free and open to MOTM members as well as to the general public.

Erhu

Activity Information

This program is intended to provide a warm and nurturing

environment for members who share a common interest in this

wonderful instrument a venue to play together. There is no

professional instructor and hence no instruction fees. Players of all

skill level help each other by sharing their experience. Each player

can choose to progress at the pace they desire. For beginners who are

curios but not sure about the potential, we do have three spare erhus

that one can be on loan (on a first come first serve basis) for a few

months before one has to commit to buy his or her own. The only

stipulation is that one has to be a MOTM member before he or she is

allowed to participate, even for only the few months trial period.

Our primary goal is not to practice to become concert performers but

rather just to enjoy the opportunities to socialize with other like

minded seniors a couple of times a week and share a few laugh while

we practice together. From time to time, we might feel brave enough

to answer to calls to perform during MOTM events.


The group usually meet two times a week and the location and

schedule time may vary between summer and winter from year to

Healthy Chinese Cooking

To enjoy Chinese healthy cooking with recipes based on low salt, low sugar, and less oil. It is a hands-on teamwork program. Normally, two dishes will be cooked in each class under the supervision of the instructor. At the end of class, the food prepared will be divided among class members to take home.

During classes, the instructor will provide recipes and cooking procedures. Also, Chinese cooking concepts and different preparation techniques will be introduced.

提倡及享用少糖、少鹽、少油的健康中式飲食。每一課, 老師會預備二款食譜, 會員一起動手烹調, 課後可以把餸菜帶回家中享用。同時老師亦會分享烹飪心得与技巧。

Keyboard


This program is an instructional program and intended for members who are interested in keyboard playing.

Our instructor Tony Tang has been teaching instrument playing in the Toronto area for 30 years and performed in numerous concerts throughout .

Venue: Armadale Community Center Denison Room

Time: Thursday 10:30 am to 11:30 noon.

Music Ensemble 


Activity Information

interested in playing corroboratively in an ensemble. Players of all

musical instruments are welcome to join. There is no limit to what

we can achieve thru trial and error. There is no professional instructor

and hence no instruction fees. Players of all skill level help each

other by sharing their experience. Each player can choose to progress

at the pace they desire.

Guitar

This program is intended for members who are interested in playing acoustic/classical guitar. 

 

Mr. Tony Tang is our instructor. He has 30 years of teaching guitar in Toronto and performed numerous concerts throughout.

 

Members are required to bring their own guitars.

 

If you are a beginner and do not have a guitar yet, you may come to our class and explore with our members and instructor to find out the type of guitar that suits you most before you buy one.
